Brazil promised to set aside 62 million acres of Amazon rain forest for conservation , underscoring the Government's renewed commitment to the faltering preservation of the imperiled tropical wilderness. The pledge to be carried out with financial and technical assistance from the World Bank and a conservation group, WWF International would put 10 per cent of the Brazilian Amazon under government protection, three times as is now protected.
