Brazilians use most Amazon timber

The biggest users of Amazon timber are not foreigners but Brazilians themselves, according to a report that explodes one of the myths about the destruction of Brazilian rainforest. According to Friends of the Earth, the environmental group, 86 per cent of all timber from the Brazilian part of the Amazon forest goes to the domestic market, while only 14 per cent is exported.
