The broad accord on the implementaion of the Cuvery's Tribunal's interim award, reached between the Chief Ministers of four basin states last weekend with the Prime Minister's intervention, marks a breakthrough in a dispute that has defied solution for over 80 years. The pact pertains essentially to an arrangement to ensure the supply of 205 TMC feet of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu by the upper riparian state Karnataka, as stipulated in the interim award.
