The Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Punjab, threatened the state government with a mass agitation if the latter failed to initiate action against the industrial units discharging effluents in Budda Nullah.
Convener of the committee Kanwarpal Singh Pannu said here today that the executive meeting of the environment save committee, a constituent of the body, would be held soon to initiate steps on a mass struggle against Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly reneging on his promise to take action against the units responsible for pollution in the nullah. The nullah further pollutes the Sutlej and other canals passing through the Malwa region, Pannu added.
Earlier, the Punjab Human Rights Commission had sought a report regarding pollution in the nullah from the Punjab Pollution Control Board.
