Maharashtra has embarked on a programme to promote rainwater harvesting and management and recycling of water with a particular focus on Mumbai. Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika has issued a general notification calling for all new buildings constructed after last October to have a waste recycling and a rain water conservation mechanism, depending on various built up area norms.
