With a clear aim to give a fillip to the Capital's public transport system before the Commonwealth Games, the government has given the largest allocation of funds to the transport sector. A whopping Rs 2,933 crore (29%) has been set aside for new buses, more roads and bridges and expansion of the Delhi Metro network in this years' budget. The move would obviously go a long way in improving the nightmarish traffic situation on Delhi roads, where over 900 private vehicles are being added daily, because the public transport system can't cater to the needs of the people. With muchtouted schemes of the government including Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), yet to provide any relief, all that has really be done to provide people an alternative is Delhi Metro. With the new fund outlay, the government has planned a complete revamp of the city's bus service
