Bush administration to ease forest management rules

  • 28/11/2002

The Bush administration will unveil a new federal forest management plan that would drop a requirement to monitor endangered species and eliminate environmental impact statements when revising forest plans, according to environmental groups and documents obtained by Reuters. The wide-ranging proposal is likely to trigger a new round of skirmishing between the Bush administration and green groups over how much access loggers, miners and oil and gas drilling companies should have to federal forests.
