President Bush viewed a blackened mountainside of ash and charred matchsticks that was once a thriving forest and then urged the Senate to pass his plan to prevent catastrophic wildfires. From atop Inspiration Rock, 8,000 feet up in Arizona's Santa Catalina range north of Tucson, Bush heard how Summerhaven was devastated by wildfires in June that destroyed thousands of acres and wiped out more than half of the small town. "This is a beautiful part of the world, that has been scarred by nature," he said. "We've got a problem in this country a problem we had better fix."
