Cabinet sub-committee to shield marginal farmers interests

The Karnataka State government has constituted a Cabinet sub-committee to forward a proposal to the Centre to protect the interests of marginal farmers, who are likely to lose land in the wake of the SC order on recovery of forest land being used for agricultural purposes. Announcing this in the Legislative Council today, Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology K H Ranganath said he was aware of the problems of marginal farmers and added that the government would do its best to safeguard their interests.
