Bureaucrats in Assam's public health engineering department are reportedly involved in diverting funds allocated for the supply of potable drinking water in the State. Assam suffers from a severe p0otable water problem. The iron content in water exceeds the tolerable limit, but the bureaucracy is yet to take the matter seriously.
