If the Indian paper industry has to grow exponentially, it must upgrade the quality of its product with one simple input: the increased use of pcc or precipitated calcium carbonate, which is found in abundance in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh or continue to face the threat of imported high grade paper at a high cost. This is the contention of a Florida-based scientist Dr. Vasant Chaphekar who has developed a technology to manufacture high quality pcc.
With the exponential growth in the industries manufacturing pvc products, white toothpaste, cosmetic powders, paints and emulsion, wires, cables as well as bore well pipes
