A recent conference on automobile and fuel technologies has suggested tighter monitoring norms and promotion of alternative fuels such as LNG and CNG that are considered much cleaner than traditional fuels such as petrol and diesel. The conference organised by the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), said emphasis only on better technology ad cleaner fuels would be inadequate in checking the slide to a major environmental crisis due to worsening air pollution.
