The Himachal Pradesh Forest Minister, Chander Kumar called upon foresters, sericulture experts and NGOs to devise ways to promote wild silks (Vanya silks) as an effective tool to uplift the lot of tribals and other weaker sections. Inaugurating a National Workshop on Wild Silks Culture and Forestry organised jointly by the Central Silk Board and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Mr Kumar hoped the delegates would find a way to promote wild silks which are unique and have a very good market all over the world.
