A professor at D C Patel School of Architecture, Vallabh Vidyanagar recently sat down with a list of around 40 water bodies that once dotted Vadodara city in Gujarat. He could locate less than half of them on the latest Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) city map. The reason was that many small lakes or talavs, over time, were filled up with garbage and construction debris and later marked as survey numbers and sold to builders.
