Canadian foresters warned on environmental standards

Canadian foresters were warned earlythis week that British Columbia producers haemorrhaged red ink last year and more losseswould be on the way if they do not accept independent environmental certification. British Columbia's lumber and paper companies are expected to post an after-tax loss of C$1 billion in 1998, the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers predicted at its annual conference on the British Columbia forestry industry.
