Large parts of South and East Delhi are once again in the midst of a severe water crisis as Uttar Pradesh has not been supplying the promised 300 cusecs of raw water to the 140 MGD Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant due to which it is only being able to produce about 50 MGD of water for the Capital. Due to the scarcity of water, many parts of Delhi, such as B-1 block in Vasant Kunj which being a low lying area seldom experienced a water problem in the past, have been getting very little or no water over the past week. "In our block, there was never a major water problem as it is a low area. In fact due to its topography, our block used to get water at good pressure. But in the past week, we have hardly been getting any water,'' complained a resident of the block.
