The draft document of the Master Plan for Delhi 2021 (MPD-2021) was on Monday approved by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) with suggestions made by the Delhi Government. A meeting for this purpose was convened by the DDA. Involving people and the private sector in the development of the city and doing away with largescale acquisition of land by the DDA are the main features of the draft. In the stormy meeting, DDA members expressed concern over several issues like relocation of industries, regularisation of unauthorised colonies, urbanised villages, the gap in the area targeted and developed, and how the formulated rules and their practices prevented the Master Plan 2001 from yielding the desired results.
