No slums, flat quarters for slum dwellers, encroachment-free roads and, above all, a clean city - these are among the few things the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation is aiming at. The BMC will soon bring out a White Paper captioned 'Vision -2020' incorporating its outline of the State Capital city 15 years hence. In a bid to meet the city's sanitation problem, the BMC is planning to introduce a "door-to-door collection of garbage" system. "This is a big dream for the municipality to realise, for which we need active public support," said Mihir Mohanty, Mayor of BMC. He said the BMC has already introduced privatisation of garbage clearance in 14 wards and the experiment is yielding good results.
