Carbon dioxide can be used to clean soil contaminated by past nuclear weapons development and nuclear energy research, using the same technique for decaffeinating coffee and dry cleaning clothes, new research has revealed. The research was done by researchers at the US Department of Energy's Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL).
