Carpet exporters petition US govt on import ban

An apex body of carpet exporters have petitioned the United States government to exempt Indian carpets from the ambit of a recent amendment prohibiting import of goods produced by child labour. The government-sponsored Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) sent a high-level delegation to Washington to appraise the US authorities of the factual position vis-a-vis child labour and the prevalent laws to guard against it.
