Ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2010, the Delhi Government is mulling a proposal to revive the transport and traffic management system in the Capital. The proposal aims to establish better coordination between all agencies concerned. According to the proposal, a Delhi Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (DUMTA) will be set up on the pattern of the one in London. The proposal states: "The authority shall prepare an action plan to achieve a sustainable balance between public transport system and multi-modal transport. The proposal will take the help of Indian Railways, Delhi Metro Rail Transport Corporation, Delhi Transport Corporation, Transport Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Traffic Police, Airport Authority of India (AAI), and private operators.
