Government scientists in Auckland, New Zealand have revealed the successful cloning of a calf from the last surviving female member of an ancient herd of short-horn cattle. It says the breakthrough with Elsie represents new hope for endangered animals. The goverment owned AgResearch Ruakura, said the small black and white calf was the world's first cattle clone produced from an adult cell, and the first clone to be alive at the same time as her genetically identical adult self.
