Water Resources Minister H.K. Patil stated that the Karnataka State was committed to completing all ongoing irrigation projects in the Cauvery basin by 2005. Replying during the debate on the Governor's address to the joint session of the Legislature, Patil said steps would be taken to ensure that the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal order allowing Karnataka to irrigate 11.2 lakh hectares in the Cauvery basin was maintained.
