The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has tied up with Pune-based Sharmik Sanitations to provide mobile sanitation facilities in the city of Panjim. The Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Melwyn Vaz disclosed that the corporation proposes to hire mobile toilets to be stationed in public places for he purpose of providing basic sanitation facilities. "The sanitation facility will be free of cost for users,' Vaz said adding that the maintenance will be taken care of by the Pune- based company. At the initial stage, 15 locations have been identified where two toilets each will be stationed. The CCP proposed to extend this facility at many more locations within its jurisdictions and is in the process of identifying the same. The sanitation drive is being initiated following a PIL pending in high court over unhygienic conditions in the city. Officials say that the existing sanitation facilities will also be reviewed. The CCP is hoping to install the mobile sanitation facilities by next week.
