Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has sought the help of Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad to get the Rs. 1,210-crore Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project cleared by the Department of Economic Affairs so that the State can open negotiations with Asian Development Bank for a loan for the project. Mr. Chandy made the appeal in a memorandum handed over to Mr. Azad who was here on Monday to inaugurate the general pool office building of the Central Government at Kakkanad. Setting up of an urban study centre in the State is one of the highlights of the memorandum. It said that Kerala was an urban continuum and had been qualified to be selected as a centre for urban studies.
