Central team begins review of NRHM works in Tirupur district

A Central Government appointed high-level team constituting the 6th Common Review Mission (CRM) under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has commenced concurrent evaluation and review of development works taken up in the district under NRHM, on Sunday. Parameters The CRM team would be assessing the progress of NRHM works on 24 parameters relating to core strategies and central areas of concern by visiting the District Headquarters hospital, taluk and non-taluk level government hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), health sub-centres and villages over five days. “The CRM members will be filing a report to the Union Government on the areas that need strengthening and course correction based on the comparative figures of major health and demographic indicators during the field visits,” official sources told The Hindu . On the day, the team comprising from National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development, NRHM in Jammu Kashmir, European Union and a few other bodies/organisations visited the PHCs at Vellakoil, Muthur and Kangayam. They also held discussions with senior health officials including Joint Director of Health G. Thirumalaisamy and Deputy Director of Health N. Ragupathy. The data from the district incorporated in the CRM report would help the authorities concerned make ‘architectural correction’ of public health system and make it more equitable, affordable and effective.
