Centre keen on State forest schemes

The Central Government has started responding positively to the ambitious schemes forwarded by the State Forest Department for improvement of forest cover in Assam and revival of the Manas National Park. Talking to The Assam Tribune, the Minister of State for Forest, Pradyut Bordoloi, said that the Central Government has already provided funds for seven forest development agencies, formed in the lines of the District Rural Development Agencies, as a part of the joint forest management programme. He said that training programme for the members of the Forest Development Agencies is going on and all the agencies would go in for a massive plantation programme in the next season.
