The centre proposes to set up a nodal agency to coordinate the interaction between various arms of the Government that fund Non-Government Organisations (NGOs). According to senior officials in the Ministry of Rural Areas & Employment, at present there is very little interaction between the various ministries and departments, which leads to duplication of efforts. "Because of this, at times, the same projects are funded by two Government organisations working at cross purposes", they said.
