Centre sanctions 2,400 sub-health units under NRHM

Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan today said the Centre had sanctioned 2,400 sub-health units under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for the state. He said this while chairing a review meeting of officials of the Health Department. The officials informed the minister that the health institutions of the Valley had treated 58,67,293 Out-patient Department (OPD) patients, while 3,14,220 In-patient Department (IPD) patients were treated till October 2013. The minister was also informed that 1,26,67,293 laboratory investigations had been conducted, besides 81,513 ECG and 1,34,684 UGC and 26,618 X-rays, during the same period. "It was given out that 33,668 deliveries have been conducted by the health institutions. Besides 21,449 major and 1,15,294 minor operations were also conducted in the health institutions throughout the Kashmir valley and subsequently, revenue of Rs 6.19 crore was also realised," an official statement said. The minister also reviewed the medicare facilities being provided to the patients under the NRHM. The meeting was attended by Gazanfar Hussain, secretary, Health Department and Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NRHM, among others.
