The Centre is likely to seek the Supreme Court's help in framing guidelines for a proper landuse policy, which would take into consideration the city's rapidly-expanding population and consequent problems. In its petition likely to be moved before the apex court, the Union urban development ministry, sources in the government said, is likely to abandon the confrontationist approach, as has been favoured by sections in the ruling party in Delhi. "Rather than adopt a combative approach, we're likely to admit to the mistakes committed by us over the years, which have landed the city in a huge mess,' a senior official pointed out.
