Centre to release funds for water projects in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: The Centre will shortly release Rs.259 crore for two ambitious projects for conservation and pollution control in the world-famous Pichola lake of Udaipur and Chambal river of Kota district in Rajasthan under the National Lake Conservation Project (NLCP). The Centre had earlier sanctioned funds under the project for conservation of Anasagar lake and Puskhar pond in Ajmer, Nakki lake in Mount Abu and Fateh Sagar and Pichola lakes in Udaipur. Union Minister of State for Forests and Environment Namonarain Meena said at a meeting with State Urban Development Secretary Manjeet Singh in New Delhi over the weekend that the Centre had received detailed project reports from the State Government and would shortly sanction Rs.110 crore for Pichola lake and Rs.149 crore for Chambal river.
