With an aim to supply round the clock potable water to those residents living in the fringe areas of the State, the Union Government has decided to sanction Rs 100 crore projects in the State. While informing about the upcoming projects, State Drinking Water Minister Prakash Pant said that a proposal was sent to the Union Government for the upgradation of Gantakarn pumping drinking water project. He told that project would be completed with an estimate cost of Rs 3463.24 lakh and half of the expenses would be borne by State Government. He said that financial-aid was not sanctioned yet by the Centre despite giving reminders many times to officials. Pant lamented over the fact no financial-aid was sanctioned by the Union Government for Danda Nagraj pumping drinking water project. He informed that DPR (Detail Project Report) was submitted to the Government of India but steps have not initiated yet by the Government in this regard. According to him, assurance was given by Union Minister officials to sanction financial-aid for Mundneshwar pumping drinking water project.
