The Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) has gone all out for its successfully implemented social housing strategy with 90 per cent of its housing units now being made for the economically weaker sections, a top official of the Board revealed.
“We have also significantly brought down the price of our MIG and HIG houses to make them affordable to all buyers,’ Commissioner, Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) Sanjay Shukla”, told The Pioneer. He said that even with lower cost of housing units there had not been any compromise on quality of construction and other aspects related to construction or design of houses.
“We have gone for complete outsourcing of design and technology aspects in construction of the housing units with a decision to establish a separate ‘Outsourcing Unit’ to ensure quality as per the parameters set by the CGHB”, he said.“There had been tremendous response for all completed projects from the buyers due to our commitment on quality and focus on affordability of the houses”, Shukla stated.
He said that all designs and technology aspects related to housing are closely evaluated before the construction work for projects commence. There are even buyers who might have chosen to buy houses in the premium end of the market are now purchasing our MIG and HIG houses for their own use, Shukla said. The CGHB has also taken a decision to allot houses to buyers on a ‘Fixed Price’ as per the advertised rates.
It may be recalled that in the month of May this year, Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat had announced that the CGHB will construct 2.80 lakh houses in the State in the next five years to provide a dwelling to the homeless and needy persons at an affordable price. The Minister has directed the officials to provide all necessary facilities to the under construction houses built under Atal Awas Yojana.
This apart, the Minister on October 20 had also launched the ‘Awas Rath’ to generate awareness among the people about various housing schemes and various other upcoming projects in the State .The ‘Awas Rath’ in the first phase will travel in Raipur district and in due course across the State to generate awareness about various housing schemes of the State Government, he had stated.
