Change in sal sed policy to hit tribals

  • 20/06/1999

The multi-use sal seeds may be an ordinary minor forest product for the triabls who are engaged in collecting it for thier livelihood, but very few have any idea that they are helping the country to earn valuable foreign exchange.Ironically, these tribals are being left in a lurch this year due to change of sal seed collection policy by the State Government. Thanks to the recent controversy over sal seeds collection policy for 1999 in Orissa, the question of privatising indegenous products like seeds have taken a centrestage at the political level.
