Rajkot is well-known for its oilseeds industry. But the town has another distinction--it is the country's largest , indigenous diesel engine manufacturing hub. This unique, and largely unorganised activity, is now facing the threat of extinction with cheaper, sleeker and technologically superior Chinese machines.
