Chandigarh, September 05 Among them are doctors, engineers and teachers, besides graduates and undergraduates The Chandigarh Administration has claimed that it will introduce 60,000 direct jobs for information technology professionals in the next two years. Going by the present employment scenario in the city, however, it seems the Administration needs to do something sooner than that. There are more than 500 graduate engineers, besides hundreds of diploma engineers, who are jobless in Chandigarh. The figure runs into thousands when it comes to graduates and under-graduates. More than 50,000 youths are registered with the Regional Employment Exchange, Chandigarh. The actual figure may be even more; not all unemployed people go to the exchange after all. The figures were revealed in the Statistical Abstract-2007 released by the UT Administration recently. According to the data procured from the UT Regional Employment Exchange, it is not only engineers, but also doctors, agriculture specialists and teachers who are among the thousands hoping to get a job some day.
