Adding to the woes of thirsty Delhiites, already reeling under acute water shortage, it cannot be said with conviction that safe drinking water flows from their taps, according to a Central Pollution Control Board report submitted before the Delhi high court. "Samples of raw and treated water, collected in April this year, indicated the presence of pesticides, especially endosulfan, in the Yamuna river between Wazirabad and Etawah and it did not conform to the prescribed criteria by the World Health Organisation and Bureau of Indian Standard," an action plan filed before a division bench comprising Justices Y.K. Sabharwal and K.S. Gupta said.
