The city would be made free from the nasty sight of dustbins and the garbage strewn around them in just four months, said the commissioner, Mr Mukesh Kumar Meena, who returned from Hyderabad after attending a workshop there on sanitation. Talking to the reporters here, Mr Meena said already a pilot project has been launched in Ward Nos 6, 8, 9, 11, 18 and 19 on experimental basis and as it proved to be a successful venture, the project will be implemented all over the city in four months. In order to carry the garbage, 1,200 rickshaw trolleys would be required and already the corporation has acquired 700 rickshaw trolleys and another 500 would be needed. Tenders have been invited for supply of 400 trolleys. The garbage would be disposed off in a scientific manner from home to the dumping yard. Till now only 45 per cent of the garbage was being collected directly from the homes and if all the trolleys were made available, cent per cent collection could be achieved, Mr Meena added. Land filling method would be adopted for scientific disposal of the garbage. A site has been identified at Kapulauppada where the biodegradable garbage would be diverted and buried under the earth. If the garbage was buried under earth, 30 per cent of it could be converted into fertilizer, he said.
