City will shut power over global warming

Residents who are sensitive to the problems of global warming will shut down electric supply for an hour between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm on Saturday. The "Hyderabad Unplug' event is being organised by World Wide Fund, India, to create awareness about global warming and its adverse impact on environment and the health of people. A countdown event on Saturday at Mountain Heights, Shilparamam, is being organised to leave a lasting impression on the people about the event. The event will begin at 6.30 pm and will end at 9.30 pm. The GHMC commissioner, Dr C.V.S.K. Sarma, and the WWF state director, Ms Farida Tampal, besides Badminton Champion Pullela Gopichand are among other dignitaries to attend. The multi-talented Karunya will serenade the audience for two hours. While actor Ileana, will announce the countdown.
