The Tamil Nadu government launched an innovative project of integrated sanitary complexes, the first of its kind in the country, last week. The State government has drawn up a Rs 250-crore blueprint to build the complexes in all the 12,609 village panchayats of the state to ensure the safety, privacy and dignity of rural women, so long deprived of basic sanitation facilities.
