The Centre has imposed the deadline of September 30 on the Assam Government to clear all reserved forest areas of the encroachments and report to it, on a regular basis, about the progress of the eviction drive. On the other hand, the parliamentary committee, attached to the Ministry of Forest and Environment, will be visiting Assam in the first week of the next month to take stock of the progress of the eviction drive in the State.
