Climate change and future concern (Editorial)

The last few decades since the mid-1970's, the average temperature in many regions of our planet has been increasing dramatically and many countries have experienced extreme climatic conditions. Frequency and intensity of flood, drought, high temperature etc. have been observed in some parts of Asia and Africa in recent decades. These are the signs of climate change which makes it difficult for survival of mankind. Climate change of a region has great impact on safe drinking water, sufficient food, safe and secure shelter and overall good and hygienic social conditions. Climate of a region is the total change of average weather conditions within a long duration of time. It depends upon factors like atmospheric temperature, humidity, rainfall, altitude. air circulation, oceanic current, atmospheric pressure etc. These factors are different for different regions of our earth and hence it would determine whether a particular region would be a grassland or a desert or a lush green forest. The earth is a mosaic of many types of climate and a variety of controls/factors interact to shape the climate of a region. Seasonal changes of climate are due to the revolution of the earth around the sun. The main factor responsible for these changes with the seasons is the angle of sun's rays reaching the earth.
