Anantapur, July 6: The agriculture minister, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, said that cloud seeding would be taken up in another 10 days due to lack of rains in Anantapur district. Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said tenders were called to conduct cloud seeding for the next five years. He said that a government committee would examine the tenders and finalise them within two days. The minister said that steps would be taken to conduct cloud seeding on a war-footing. Mr Raghuveera Reddy said that farmers were getting ready to sow groundnut in the kharif season and added that the meteorological department had indicated that rains would be further delayed. The minister said the new guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India on the loan waiver scheme would not pose any problems to farmers. He said that the RBI had tightened rules and regulations to prevent corruption and irregularities in loan waiver, as complaints were received that some banks were trying to show even bad debts under the loan waiver scheme. Mr Raghuveera Reddy said that Runa Vimukthi Melas would be conducted from July 8 to July 15 in Anantapur district.
