Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met the Lieutenant Governor Vijay Kapoor and told him that the formulation of a policy was needed for the demolition and relocation of slums from the Capital. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of DDA, MCD, Urban Development ministry and the chief secretary. Dikshit demanded that all the agencies involved in the relocation of slums should sit together and determine the policy. "It is a question of the lives of 40 lakh people of the city and we have to ask ourselves whether we can relocate all of them," said Dikshit after the meeting. The possibility of in-situ development of the slum clusters needed to be explored before relocation was considered, she said.
