CM's drinking water scheme to be implemented in villages

The Chief Minister's drinking water scheme will soon be implemented in all villages with a population of 1000 and 500 for making available drinking water in these villages. Priority will be given to villages of predominantly populated by scheduled caste and scheduled tribe while implementing this scheme. Public Health Engineering and Cooperative Minister Gaurishankar Bisen announced above while inaugurating the newly constructed Chief Engineer's Office at Indore today.
Public Health Engineering Minister Gaurishankar Bisen said that a grand drinking water scheme costing Rs 3000 crore is being prepared to solve the problem permanently in Indore, Ujjain, Dewas and Shajapur districts. He said that with this scheme sufficient drinking water will be made available in rural areas of these districts. Bisen said that a detailed work plan is being chalked out for the same. He said that all efforts are being made to provide drinking water in the state. There is no shortage of resources to implement this scheme, he said.
Bisen said that for the purpose of repairing of more than 4 lakh hand pumps, appointment on vacant posts of hand pump mechanics on contract basis is being done. He said that due to efforts made to solve drinking water problem, this year transportation of drinking water was necessary in only three districts of Malwa region. He said that the efforts made by the departmental officers to provide drinking water in summer season are commendable.
Bisen said that engineers of Public Health Engineering Department have played lead role in the third phase of Narmada to Indore. He said that the only purpose of Chief Minister's Drinking Water scheme is to provide drinking water to villages where the problem is worst in summer season. He said that after implementation of the scheme, none of the villages in the state will be deprived of drinking water.
'CM Rural Drinking Water Scheme, a boon for SC/ST settlements'

An ambitious plan of village tap water schemes for 1 thousand villages in the state has been made under the CM Rural Potable
Water Project. Fund of Rs 40 crore has also been allotted for this purpose. PHED Minister Gaurishankar Bisen has okayed implementation of the scheme in June in a meeting of chief engineers and superintending engineers, he said.
Tomar said that implementation of the schemes would help to improve the environment because of their execution on spot source basis. The project would be completed on priority basis in the SC/ST settlements. Consent of public representatives would be necessary for detailed planning of the schemes. The district in-charge ministers would approve them after discussion with the public representatives, he said.
Appreciating the PHED Minister Bisen for swift execution of the scheme within 15 days, Tomar said that he has proved his political commitment for state government's priorities. The scheme would be a boon for villages with 500 to 1000 population in the state, he added.
