When the oil companies came to give a representation to the Environment Protection Control Authority (EPCA) on the viability of CNG, they were accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Oil, Petroleum and Natural Gas. On the other hand, when the gas company - Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) - came for the meetings, they were along. This incident is just symptomatic of the way the Ministry feels about promoting the cause of CNG.Infact a member of the EPCA jokingly mentioned that the Ministry had forgotten that along with Oil and Petroleum, it also had two other words - Natural gas - added to it.The impetus at which heads roll at IGL, the chair of the managing director, has become too hot to handle. According to sources in the Ministry, the present MD, A.K. Dey who took over the last month, offered to resign when he was pressurised to put forward a particular line of argument to the court against CNG.
