Coal scam: Fresh FIR against Kumar Mangalam Birla

CBI has alleged that Hindalco was wrongfully allocated the Talabira II coal block in Orissa Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a fresh case in the coal block allocation scam against industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and former coal secretary P C Parekh. CBI has also named aluminium rolling company Hindalco in the FIR. This is the 14th case lodged by the CBI in the coal scam. The accused have been booked for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Prevention of Corruption Act. "CBI registers a fresh case in alleged irregularities in coal scam against the then Coal Secretary, M/s Hindalco, representative of Adita Birla Group, unknown persons and officials," agency spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said. The investigation agency is conducting searches in Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar and Mumbai. The $40 billion (about Rs 2.45 lakh crore) conglomerate has denied receiving any FIR and refuted allegations of any wrongdoing.
