Fog Disrupts Vehicular Movement
Lucknow: Even as cold conditions continued to lash the state, three deaths, including two children, due to cold were reported on Thursday. Vehicular traffic remained affected due to fog in some parts of the state. The weatherman said that there will be no change in weather in next 3-4 days.
The three deaths were reported from Barabanki district. Hariprasad (45) of Andgau village, Neeraj (7) of Daulatpur village and sixyear-old daughter of Durgesh Sharma of Diyanatnagar village died due to ailments caused due to cold. If one include deaths of 34 children due to cold weather in riot relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, total number of deaths this winter in UP rose to 37.
Lucknow recorded 7.7 degrees Celsius minimum temperature. The day was sunny but chilly winds kept temperature below normal. The maximum temperature was 20.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. According to stateMetdepartmentthe minimum temperature in Agra was 4.7 degrees Celsius, Etawah and Aligarh 5.4 degrees Celsius each, Meerut 6.2 degrees Celsius and Kanpur 6.8 degrees Celsius. The west and central UP was colder in comparison to the East.
State Met director JP Gupta said that cold winds from snow clad mountains are responsible for the chilly conditions. He said that the minimum temperature may drop by a coupleof degreesin many parts of the state during the next 24 hours. Morning would be foggy and chilly winds will continue to lash the state, he added. In Lucknow, he said, fog would occur in the morning and could would intensify in coming days.
