Compensation sought against land acquisition

The people of Dambuk, Kalabari Dambuk, Balukaguri and Amguri Dambuk have flayed the process of land acquisition from Meahaki Tiniali to Dambuk embankment for Bogibeel project at Balukabari land block in the northern bank of the Brahmaputra under Sissi revenue block. According to sources, the concerned authorities have started the process of land acquisition in the area. The authorities plan to occupy more than 509 bighas of land. Land acquisition will displace several families, including Shiva Kumbang, Khagen Medok, Biren medok, Ingle medok, Sadananda Kumbang, Bopung Kumbang, Japan Kumbang, Tileswar Kumbang, Padma Mili, Nehru Kumbang, Raja Kumbang and so on. The families have reportedly been living in the area since 1900. On the other hand, the railways has already completed land acquisition for construction of road way to be joined with the bridge, guide bund and boulder stacking along with acquisition of 676 bigha of land for construction of railway track on the northern bank, with displacement of more than 197 families. The railways has released an amount for land compensation to the State government but due to the presence of a large number of fake persons in the list, more than 89 genuine land holders have been deprived from getting compensation. Moreover, several families of the area have been deprived of land compensation due to bolder stacking, service road construction guide bund, although the families have been struggling for getting compensation. In protest agsinst acquisition of 509 bighs of land for the railways, huge public meting was recently organised by Takam Mising Porin Kebang (All Mising Students' Union), Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Land Compensation Demand Committee, Bogibeel.
