Concern over unabated timber smuggling in Kamrup west forest division

The Assam government's indifferent attitude towards developing the infrastructure of the forest offices, increasing the inadequate staff in range/beat forest offices, non-induction of sufficient armed personnel in forest range offices, lesser fund allocation for checking illegal timber merchandising operations etc. have contributed to unabated felling and sale of illegitimate timber from the State's forests. The present state government should see to the development of infrastructure in the Brahmaputra with due care and attention in a bid to protect rich flora and fauna in our forests inact.
